How Do Digital Backgrounds Work?

A digital background is one that has been created for the purpose of providing a beautiful and unique backdrop for a portrait to be cut and pasted onto it. This is done by using certain photo editing tools like Photoshop.

What Are The Benefits Of Using A Digital Background?

• There are 1000s of choices, including a variety for every season
• Options include gorgeous scenery that we don't have locally
• They can be used year round to take lovely "outdoor" portraits
• Animals in these scenes are posed just right
• Many include adventure scenes like driving a bulldozer or feeding a giraffe
• When edited professionally they can look incredibly realistic
• Often these nature scenes can be much more "perfect" than a regular outdoor photo session because the sunlight, foliage, and background elements are in perfect harmony 

How Are The Pictures Taken For the Digital Backgrounds?

Studio portraits are taken with a solid backdrop. Then the portraits are precisely extracted from the solid color backdrop, resized and placed onto the digital background. Then an overlay or additional elements are added to give the portrait  some dimension in the digital background. Elements are placed strategically to slightly overlap the portrait to make it look natural in the new setting. The process is a bit tricky and takes a lot of extra work but the results can be stunning.
